Common Use

Dasatinib is used to treat chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) that are Philadelphia chromosome-positive. It works by blocking the action of BCR-ABL and other tyrosine kinases that drive cancer cell growth.

Dosage and Direction

Take Dasatinib exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, split, or chew it.

Precautions

Before using Dasatinib, inform your doctor if you have heart problems, lung disease, or liver issues. Regular monitoring of blood counts and organ function is required during treatment.

Contraindications

Do not use Dasatinib if you are allergic to dasatinib or any of its components. Use with caution in patients with bleeding disorders or severe pulmonary conditions.

Possible Side Effect

Common side effects include fatigue, fluid retention, nausea, and diarrhea. Serious side effects may include pulmonary arterial hypertension, low blood counts, or bleeding complications.

Drug Interaction

Avoid taking Dasatinib with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers, and do not consume grapefruit products. Acid-reducing agents may also interfere with drug absorption.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed one—do not take a double dose.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include severe fatigue, low blood counts, or abnormal heart rhythms. Seek immediate medical help if an overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store Dasatinib at room temperature away from moisture and light. Keep it in the original container and out of reach of children.
