Common Use

Jentadueto is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults by improving blood sugar control. It combines linagliptin, which enhances insulin secretion, with metformin hydrochloride, which lowers glucose production in the liver.

Dosage and Direction

Take Jentadueto once daily with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow the tablet whole—do not crush, split, or chew.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems, or a history of pancreatitis. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis with metformin.

Contraindications

Do not use this medication if you have severe renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, or are allergic to linagliptin or metformin. It is not intended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Possible Side Effect

Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and headache. Rare but serious risks include pancreatitis and lactic acidosis.

Drug Interaction

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember with food. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one—don’t take two doses at once.

Overdose

Overdose can lead to lactic acidosis, a potentially life-threatening condition. Seek emergency medical help immediately if an overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep the medication in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
