Common Use

Zomig is used to relieve acute migraine attacks with or without aura. It helps reduce headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound by narrowing blood vessels in the brain.

Dosage and Direction

Take Zomig at the first sign of a migraine, as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food, and the dose may be repeated after two hours if symptoms return.

Precautions

Avoid using Zomig if you have heart disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or a history of stroke. Inform your doctor about any risk factors for cardiovascular disease before starting treatment.

Contraindications

Zomig is not recommended for use in patients with ischemic heart disease, hemiplegic or basilar migraine, or known hypersensitivity to zolmitriptan. It should not be used with certain types of antidepressants or within 24 hours of other triptans or ergot drugs.

Possible Side Effect

Common side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, or tingling sensations. Serious but rare effects include chest pain, shortness of breath, or irregular heartbeat.

Drug Interaction

Zomig may interact with SSRIs, SNRIs, MAO inhibitors, or other migraine medications. Always inform your doctor of all drugs and supplements you are taking.

Missed Dose

Zomig is taken as needed, not on a regular schedule. Do not take extra doses if a migraine does not improve—contact your doctor for guidance.

Overdose

Overdosing on Zomig can lead to high blood pressure, loss of coordination, or fainting. Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect an overdose.

Storage

Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the medication in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
